Ascorbic acid is one of the main non-enzymatic water-soluble antioxidants. Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen, an important structural component of blood vessels, tendons, ligaments, and bones.
Therefore, it plays a fundamental role in skin construction as it stimulates collagen synthesis in skin fibroblasts.
